Life at GMMI

GMMI

A general outline of how activities will be run will be given to you or your team.  But,
the details of how you run your ministries will be left up to your planning and
organization.  GMMI will already have a permanent missions staff that participates in
all of the ministries, and they will work in coordination with the plans you lay out.

H2O Distribution Ministry

• Clean, bottled water will be given out.  Clean water is needed overseas
  especially for mothers and their infants.
  
• The bottled water will be purchased from the local town, so there is no need to
  bring bulk quantities of bottled water on your own.  It would be more beneficial
  to bring resources to purchase the water for the ministry.
  

Food Distribution Ministry

• Your management skills are needed to efficiently lay out a plan to distribute
  food to the hungry, which usually number greater than 200 people per meal.
  
• We will already have a staff ready to prepare the bulk of the food and clean up
  of the dishes/utensils
  
• Bulk foods such as rice and cabbage will be purchased from the local towns.
  
• What we encourage you to bring are specialty food items, food, or supplies
  that are not bulky.  For example bringing spices such as salt/pepper, hot
  sauce, zip lock plastic bags, granola bars etc.
  
• Please, remember if you are going to bring something, bring enough for
  everyone, because we would not want hungry people to feel left out from the
  others being fed.
  

Medical Ministry

• Volunteer physicians will see patients and have prescription pharmaceuticals.
  
• OTC medications, first aid products, and hygiene products will be given.
  
• Nursing care for wounds, infections, and general first aid will be given to the
  people..
  
• Provide dental care.
  
• Provide optometrists' services and eye glasses.
  
• We need to provide personal hygiene distribution to improve public health.  
  This is where you can especially help us by brining hygiene items such as
  toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap bars, detergents, etc.
  

Children's Ministry

• Prepare simple praise songs for children to sing along too.
  
• Bring simple items to brighten a child's day (other than candy) such as
  stickers, crayons, key chains, etc.
  
• Please, if you are bringing any items, once again please bring enough to give
  out to every child and not just some of them.  
  

Prayer Ministry

• We need you to pray for these people individually.  Do not worry about the
  language difference.  They will understand love.
  
• Each member of the prayer team should prepare to pray with individuals
  during our missions events.
  

TLC Ministry

• This team will minister, encourage, and share God's love for people in need
  of healing.  Healing from their wounds of coming from separated families, of
  being accident victims, having missing children, the elderly, orphans, widows,
  and anyone else in need.
  
• Language does not matter.  Desperate people communicate through the
  universal language of TLC.
  

Praise Team

• Being a part of the praise team will involve singing praise songs, performing
  skits as a team, performing arts, and it will be very important to actively
  participate.
  
• If you know how to play an instrument, you can also show or teach them how
  to play.  The people will open their hearts when music and songs are played.  
  You will be surprised by their responses to music and song.
  

Preach and Bible Study

• Preach and spread the gospel in any language.  Shout it out loud!  It
  works.
